Since it was a road trip in part to see curling I'll throw a few rocks out....
Lead Rocks - the Ralph
I'll cut right to the jewel of Grand Forks and it's not the Columbia Mall. The Ralph Engelstad Arena was just as immaculate as described. Marble floors, brass rails, leather seating, great architecture, brick, flip hockey tables at every section entrance, 32 oz giant beers, a stellar souvenir store featuring everything you want in present Sioux apparel and NHLer alumni stuff too, etc. etc. A real hockey playground palace.

Second Rocks - attendance
The picture above was taken about 30 minutes before the start of the Saturday 7PM draw featuring Canada. As you can tell, my wife and our little guy didn't have to fight any type of crowd to get into the building. Attendance was weak. The Americans were not part of the draw so that was one factor but there are other obstacles the event is up against all week. The perfect scenario would have been: 1. Not having the Brier played in Winnipeg. 2. Team Canada rep from Manitoba. 3. TV coverage as part of Seasons of Champions. It's still early so the event has time to gain some momentum.
Third Rocks - the bear
Team Martin is 3-0 and Kennedy, Morris and Martin are all shooting in the 90s. Hebert isn't far off either. I would be very surprised if they didn't win this puppy. Martin is the best we have in Canada right now. No doubt about it.
Skip Rocks - curling road trip
A reader comment from Friday said a good road trip is good for the heart and she hit the nail on the head. The trip was very good and it will be a special memory for my wife and son. With a new baby on the way in July this was likely the last road trip together as just the three of us. Maybe that's why we managed to fit everything in. We wanted to hit the button for the win and we did.
